Following the success of the event in Leeds in March, our second Northern Event was held in Manchester in early September.
On one of the hottest days of the year (32°C), more than 60 Old Friends, guests and BOSS North members met at Saint Peter’s – the home of one of the world’s finest and most recognised orchestras, The Hallé.
Many took advantage of an early ‘Happy Hour’ overlooking the adjacent and vibrant Cutting Room Square before the official drinks reception, after which we gathered in a very special part of the building – an amazing and beautifully renovated church in which the orchestra rehearses. The seating was laid out for the first formal rehearsals taking part the next morning so we sat exactly where the orchestra would be located the following day.
After a brief welcome by the President (JL), Phil Jones MBE gave an inspiring talk about Brother UK’s sponsorship of the Hallé and shared some leadership lessons from Sir Mark Elder – Former Music Director. Recordings of previous recitals added much ambience. We then returned to the reception area for canapés and drinks.
Cutting Room Square could have been anywhere in Europe on such a warm and balmy evening and it was quite magical on the night.
We plan to be back in the North on 29th February – probably in Leeds.
